"The classes helped improve my flexibility and balance. The exercises also proved to be additional rehab from a torn rotator cuff."
Larry

"These sessions have helped me with my balance and have helped me relax... something I need to do more often. And, I'm incorporating the stances into my regular workout routine."
Paul

"I had a great time in class. It definitely helped my balance. Plus, with Nancy always smiling and making it fun, you don't realize you're doing such a hard workout at the same time!"

WORLD TAI CHI and QIGONG DAY

SAVE SATURDAY MORNING, APRIL 28th FOR 2012's GATHERING!
Lock 3 on Main Street in Downtown Akron

We played our part in 2011's GLOBAL HEALING FLASH MOB! Everyone present enjoyed seeing demonstrations by instructors and students and participating as well. There were segments of Yang and Chen styles of Tai Chi, testimonials from participants on the health benefits of Tai Chi and Qigong, special times with kids, sword and staff forms, Qigong breathing and more.

Deputy Mayor Dave Lieberth was there to read and present a proclamation signed by the mayor acknowledging this day of personal and global healing as an annual event in the City of Akron. He invited Nancy Gardner to continue to bring our community together in this way every year as the official opening to the Lock 3 schedule.

To learn three relaxing and energizing Qigong/movement exercises, click on the link below and follow along. Practice them regularly as part of your wellness program.

Hiking Stick/Staff Exercises for Health & Self-Defense

The stick work is always a big hit for participants. The staff, used as an extension of our body, helps us balance the strength between our dominant and non-dominant sides. It is a tool for improving flexibility; a weapon in self-defense. Independently or as a complement to Tai Chi, staff work can bring a new depth to your workout.

Check back for summer offerings.

Tai Chi in Highland Square

Free Tai Chi workshops were offered at Highland Square's "Art in the Square." Participants also were invited to join Nancy at her booth for additional play.

Look for us next year... Saturday of Labor Day weekend.

Women's Weekend Retreat

Eight participants stepped out of their everyday environment to enjoy the beauty and serenity of the Allegheny National Forest and to learn a bit about Native American Spirituality and themselves!
