Our roots... feeling at home

Apr 15, 2015

My roots are the woods. Literally. I was conceived at Camp Ledgewood, the Girl Scout camp in Peninsula. No – it was legitimate! My parents were the caretakers of the camp.

The forest is part of my cellular memory. I feel at home in the woods. It’s one of my favorite places to get rejuvenated. Where do YOU go to relax and refresh your body, mind and spirit?

Our home was a little cabin called Whippoorwill. My mom took care of my older sister and me and ran the first-aid station. My dad went to his day job, a machinist at Goodyear, then came home and did camp chores, like chop wood and carry water.

The forest is part of my cellular memory. I feel at home in the woods. It’s one of my favorite places to get rejuvenated. Where do YOU go to relax and refresh your body, mind and spirit?

For one friend, it’s his church. For another, it’s driving her car – anywhere. For someone else, it’s a nice long bath. Perhaps for you it’s not a place at all. Perhaps you sit quietly and find your “home” within. Wherever it may be, spend some time there this week and every week! Relax. Release. Let go.

Good Qi,
